The Stolen Cartoons

The Stolen Cartoons is the first episode of the Disney TV series House of Mouse. Plot Mickey Mouse owns a club which is a popular hotspot for many Disney characters. Donald is jealous of his friend and wants to own the club. Daisy tells him he will get a chance one day. Just then, Pete barges in and tells everyone to leave, as he purchased the club and is closing it down. While going over the contract, Goofy finds a loophole: the club will stay open as long as the show goes on. Mickey is scared and is unsure what to do. Minnie reassures him and tells him to show some cartoons. After two cartoons, Horace Horsecollar, the technician, does not answer when Minnie asks him to roll another cartoon. Mickey and Minnie go to investigate, and find Horace tied up. Horace tells them someone stole all the cartoons. Pete comes in and tells them that they should close the club if they don't have any cartoons. Mickey suspects Pete of the crime, but Pete tells them he is innocent, even though several obvious clues are around. Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy leave to make a new cartoon and leave Donald in charge until they return. Realizing this is his chance, Donald changes many aspects of the club to change it into the House of Duck (having trouble changing the sign). However, Donald realizes running a club is hard work. When Donald goes onstage, he does not receive a standing ovation. Realizing they want Mickey, he leaves and comes back dressed as Steamboat Willie. After this proves unsuccessful, he leaves and returns dressed in Mickey's sorcerer outfit from Fantasia. He then brings out a cardboard cutout of Mickey, but it soon falls over. The guests leave the club. Pete tells Donald to hand over the keys. Just then, Mickey returns with a new cartoon. Pete tells them they have no guests, anyway, but everyone returns when they see Mickey has returned. After the cartoon, Pete tells Mickey he cannot run a club playing the same cartoon over and over again. At that moment, the cartoon reels fall out of Pete's shirt. Pete tries hiding, each attempt failing. When trying to escape, he is blocked by Tantor the red elephant from Tarzan and Mickey's friends. He is then kicked out of the house. Mickey thanks the guests for coming and closes out the show.
