The Sagg Taqwacore Syndicate are one of the many pioneers of the Taqwacore genre. A music scene inspired by the novel written by Michael Muhammad Knight titled the Taqwacores. . Contrary to rumour they were not one of the first bands to use the term taqwacore. The Sagg Taqwacore Syndicate is DJ and Vocalist R Harris. He is not Arabic or a Muslim There is no definitive "taqwacore sound," but the STS have roots in House,Techno and Hip-Hop. Inspired by the Knight novel and the stories told to him by his mentor Pau P Sagg, also known as Papa Sagg. The songs "Lord of Dawn" and "3 AM Death Raid" by the band have been featured on KCRW and Rosebud Radio. The band will be featured on the Taqwacores movie soundtrack. In April of 2008, Michael Muhammad Knight gave the band his 'verbal okay' to use the band name. However, they have never met. |
