The Real Estate Wiki

The Real Estate Wiki is a free, privately funded online encyclopedia targeted at users needing information concerning the real estate industry.
The Real Estate Wiki was launched in January 2008 with 7,000 entries and within the first 5 months rose to over 22,000 entries. The wiki was created by a group of real estate professionals, headed by Stefan Swanepoel, who wanted a more central, specific niche encyclopedia for the real estate industry.
Structure
The basic structure of the site is like any wiki; however, users must register before they can edit any material. They rely solely on volunteers and advertising of all forms is not accepted.
Contents
The site is divided into two separate areas:
* Consumer focus for home buyers and sellers. This area includes a real estate almanac, glossary of terms, abbreviations, home buyer and seller FAQ's and general real estate information.
* Industry focus for real estate professionals, such as real estate brokers & estate agents, real estate investors and mortgage brokers. This area includes a wide variety of real estate information from government, associations & organizations to people, companies and general industry information.
* Community focus with a useful resource of monthly updated research data, including the number of arm’s length real estate transactionss and non-arm’s length transactions, the number of refinancing transactions, new mortgage loans and pre-foreclosure activity for each of the 3,151 counties in the US.
