The Peel Club is a private members' club in St James's, London, founded by several members of the Carlton Club for those with an active and special interest in philosophy, politics, economics, and security. The club is named after the former prime minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Robert Peel, 2nd Baronet and describes itself as a centre-right conservative fellowship. Membership Candidates are chosen based on individual merit but are thought to be of high social status or influence within the areas of politics, government, academia, and industry. The membership is and designed to be an executive network for effecting important business, on top of serving ordinary social purposes. Meetings Main meetings of the club are in the format of grand white tie banquets in opulent stately homes, where a strict dress code is enforced and formal ceremony followed.
