The Official Joke Book

The Official Joke Book is a short film (shot in 16mm, 8min 30 sec) directed by V G Baburaj in 2001. The film uses an abstract non-existent language with English subtitles. The film was screened at Milano Film Festival and International Film Festival of Kerala among other festivals.
Synopsis: The film is about a man who is washed ashore a remote island in a medieval period. The island is full of surprises for him. When he reaches the only country pub in the island, he finds the people inside laughing after uttering random numbers. He too tries to join them, but in vain.

About the Director: V G Baburaj has worked as a plant operator, electrician, farmer, advertising man and designer before making his first short film, The Official Joke Book in 2001. He initiated Collective Chaos, a highly regarded film collective in Bangalore in 2003.‘Chhedam’ (The Void) is his first feature film.
