The Mouse That Ate The Cat

The Mouse That Ate The Cat is an electro-Indie-pop duo from the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland which serves as a side project for Brian Henderson, who is most notable as the front man for The Dykeenies while Colin saw some minor success with him first band Drive-By Argument. The act's sound brings together a backdrop of synthesisers, a couple of rhytmic guitars and powerful vocals, with the sound fluctuating between loud, energetic, layered and soft, lofi sections with the band citing influences such as Yeasayer, TV On The Radio, Mr Fogg and Passion Pit.
History
Formation (2010)
The band formed in April 2010 after "Colin and I threatened to work together" according to Brian in an interview with Amazing Radio's Georgie Rogers but only came about as a side projectt, as Brian was working on recording the second Dykeenies record while Colin was focusing on his latest act, Oliver Stays. In May 2010, 'Are You Alone Now?', 'Colours' and 'Beautiful Youth' were posted to the bands Myspace page along with very few details and a cartoony sketch of the band, drawn by young South African artist Gabriele Teale-James. To this day, the band have maintained an air of mystery around their online presence, keeping information on themselves to a bare minimum and opting to keep using the cartoon drawing of them rather than an official press shot.
New songs and live performances (2011)
With no more activity coming from the band during the rest of 2010, it came as a surprise when, in early 2011, the band uploaded 4 songs in 5 weeks to their online social networks before announcing that their first ever live performance would be at headline show at the legendary King Tut's Wah Wah hut in Glasgow on Saturday 7th May 2011.
In March 2011, the band peaked at number 5 in the Amazing Radio charts with 'Knife Lover'.
In April 2011, Yvonne McLellan, A&R of Island Records gave the band their first national airplay by playing their track 'Knife Lover' on BBC Radio 1 in the A&R zone on Ally McCrae's show.
In June 2011, the band also announced that they would be touring in August of this year to promote an "anti-single", which is due to be accompanied by a music video, which will be shot in a "17th century weaving mill" according to their Facebook page.
