The Mormon Contribution to Alberta Politics

The Mormon Contribution to Alberta Politics is a collection of short biographical entries of Albertans who have run for provincial political office, regardless of whether or not they were elected, and "provides a compendium of biographies of those who are considered to be ethnically Mormon in Alberta who were involved in both provincial and federal politics over the past 120 years." Written by Dr. Ernest George Mardon and Dr. Austin Mardon and published by Golden Meteorite Press in 2011, its primary intent was to chronicle the significant contribution Mormons have made to Alberta politics and show that Mormons have a diverse political influence across the entire political spectrum.
Background
The Mormon Contribution to Alberta Politics came out of the writing of a larger work, Who's Who in Federal Politics in Alberta, a collection of short biographical entries about every politician in Alberta who had run and/or was elected to a federal position from Alberta. Sources for the biographical information include extensive telephone phone calls for all living subjects, and verified and published material that was extracted from newspapers and other accessible materials. this book soundly dispels any notion that Mormons typically vote together for any one particular way, since many early southern Alberta Mormon politicians ran as Independents, Conservatives, and Social Credit members.
