Men of the Dawn

The Men of the Dawn or The Men of the Dawn: Alberta Political Territorial Biographical Dictionary 1882-1905, a biographical dictionary written by Ernest Mardon and Austin Mardon, is an account of the politicians from the North West Territories of the District of Alberta and Candidates for the First Alberta General Election.
The dictionary is divided into sections that consist of biographical histories, members of council, legislative assembly, and parliament from Alberta, along with information on provincial and federal ridings, including maps and “data on how the form of democratic representative government developed in the District of Alberta, paving the way for the Alberta Act of 1905,” which was the establishment of the province of Alberta.
The dictionary mainly focuses on the past political figures of the North West Territories of the District of Alberta, with a brief mention and introduction about the settlers and the European colonialists.
