The Last Airbender is an upcoming 2010 live-action film adaptation of the Nickelodeon television series Avatar: The Last Airbender being produced by Paramount Pictures. The Last Airbender will be first in a trilogy of movies about Avatar, and its focus spans the entirety of season one. It will be directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan.
Synopsis
The movie focuses on the protagonist, Aang, and his friends Katara and Sokka as they journey to the North Pole to find a Waterbending master to teach Aang and Katara. Fire Lord Ozai, the current Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, is waging a seemingly endless war against the Earth Kingdom, the Water Tribes, and the already vanquished Air Nomads. Aang, the current Avatar, must master the four elements—Air, Water, Earth, and Fire—before defeating the Fire Lord and ending the war. Along the way, Aang and his friends are chased by various pursuers, including Prince Zuko, a banished Fire Nation prince, and Admiral Zhao, a key member of the Fire Navy.

Production
The script, concept art, and story-boards for the film have been completed. There will be almost 20 martial-arts fighting scenes in the film, and CGI will be used. Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2009 and the movie will be filmed in Greenland, Philadelphia, and Vietnam.
