Ronzilla

Ronzilla is a solo project of artist and musician Ron Rice, who was born in Spokane, WA (US) in 1966. Ronzilla's music is noise-based, incorporating sounds from guitars, sythesizers, effects pedals, and unusual percussion instruments. His compositions are generally atonal and non-rhythmic, though musical sounds are occasionally incorporated.
Ronzilla's music is notable, because it occupies an unusual niche between two genres of experimental music: 1) Noise music with its focus on harsh dissonance, characterized by bands such as Merzbow, C.C.C.C., and Masonna; and 2) Glitch music with its focus on the sonic artifacts of malfunctioning digital media, characterized by bands such as Oval, Yasunao Tone, and Ryoji Ikeda.
Ron Rice first became involved in experimental music in the late 1980's as the editor and publisher of H23 Magazine (1988-1991). Though H23 did receive attention among experimental musicians and fans, online references are sketchy. Ron Rice received a BA degree in Fine Arts and an MFA degree in Film. He has worked in a variety of media including sound, film, video, photography, painting and collage. Ron Rice is a member of the experimental rock band The Meh Project.
