Amanda Kapousoucz

Amanda Kapousoucz, also known as Tin Cup Prophette , is a folk musician originally from New York City. Her stage name is derived from the tin tip cup her father gave her when she began her music career, which now dangles from her fiddle case during every performance. Experimenting with ranging musical styles like traditional Irish music, heavy metal, bluegrass, jazz, dixieland, and rock and roll, Kapousoucz has been inspired by other musicians like Bain Mattox, Jump Little Children, and Hope For a Golden Summer.
Early Music Career
Kapousoucz began by entertaining thousands of commuters daily by performing on New York's subway platforms for small change. Eventually progressing to many of New York's musical stages, Kapousoucz's style changed as she worked with artists of various genres. She has composed music for modern dance, films, and has toured extensively in the Irish music circuit. In addition to her music career, Kapousoucz also worked as a school tutor for children in the entertainment industry. She has worked with children from films and shows such as School of Rock, The Emperor's Club, and The Sopranos. Kapousoucz has claimed "teaching is NO 9-5 job, especially in the entertainment industry, and paired with a music career, well, there's really no time to sleep."
Solo Career
Moving to Athens, GA in 2003, Kapousoucz competed with over 130 bands in the Smith's Olde Bar's Open Mic Madness Tournament in Atlanta, GA and won first runner up. The tournament made Kapousoucz famous for using a variety of instruments in her performances such as the accordian, violin, and looping pedals. Since then, Kapousoucz has been working with various bands across the northern and southeastern United States expanding on her musical talent. From 2004-2005, Kapousoucz toured extensively with Jump Little Children and later collaborated with singer/songwriter Matthew Bivins on Cabaret Kiki in Charleston, SC. Kapousoucz is married to singer Bain Mattox with whom she regularly works on musical endeavors. She is scheduled to release Liar and the Thief in 2009.
