The Language Factory is a language translation services company. The company is situated in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and provides a wide range of language services including translation, proof-reading, localisation, transcription, coding, back-translation, verbatim, interview quality checks and editing . The Language Factory is a long-standing translation agency specialising in market research but also regularly provides marketing and PR, education and training, medical and pharmaceutical and technical translations. Company History Founded in 1992 by Shona Lockhart, the main aim of the company is to help market research organisations conduct international research on behalf of their end-client and be free from all language barriers. The Language Factory is a corporate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), the MRS Company Partnership scheme and GALA. Corporate Social Responsibility The Language Factory operates using a paperless office system where possible. All print consumables, kitchen, electronic and other waste are recycled. The Language Factory has actively supported and partnered with both Oxfam and MicroLoan Foundation for the past 10 years. Specifically, The Language Factory has contributed to Oxfam’s Enterprise Development Programme (EDP), which aims to support small rural enterprises which create employment for women, in places financial institutions do not reach. They have also contributed funding for projects to help prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS among women and children in South Africa. In addition, The Language Factory supports the Microloan Foundation’s objective to assist the poorest women in rural Africa to help themselves and their families out of poverty. The Microloan Foundation does this by providing loans, mentoring and support to people who would otherwise have no access to financial services, allowing individuals to run businesses and pay for food and education.
