The Jersey Looker

The Jersey Looker refers to the actual bus that started the craze, and thus the resurgence of 70's vannin' culture in the VW world. Where as anything else would refer to any bus that exhibits traits of the jersey look. As in, there is "The Jersey Looker" (the specific bus) and there is "a jersey looker" (any bus).
A jersey looker is any air cooled Volkswagen Type 2 Split Window Bus that has been modified in a style reminiscent the custom van craze that occurred during the mid to late 70s and early 80s.
Common modifications
The Split Window Volkswagen Bus is popular with customizers throughout the world not only because it's relatively inexpensive and somewhat easy to work on, but because its iconic looks can be personalized and the flat four motor is so tunable.

Exterior
There are many popular Bus styles, from a 'Jersey Looker' to a pop-up campers. They vary between themselves but are very similar in many ways. The Jersey Look has remained unscathed during the 30+ years of its lifespan. The most typical (and traditional) way to customise the exterior is to change the wheels, cut and flare the rear wheel wells. The favorite wheels are American Mags, like Crager or ET's. Today, the Jersey looker is being returned to bone stock, with only a few dedicated followers.
Also, the addition of performance scoops to enhance the vehicles appearance and improve cooling.
