The Isle of Mechanical Men

"The Isle of Mechanical Men" is a funny animal science fiction comic book story starring Andy Panda and Charlie Chicken. It was penciled by Dan Gormley and published in June 1950 by Dell Publishing Co., Inc. in Four Color #280. Andy and Charlie are blown by a tornado to an isle where a mad scientist plans to use his robots to conquer the world.
Plot
In "The Isle of Mechanical Men", Andy and Charlie are whisked away by a tornado to a mysterious isle. They discover an old house where a mad scientist is creating robots to conquer the world. A kindly robot discarded by the scientist as unfit for his evil purposes helps Andy and Charlie defeat the scientist and his henchman Rocky.

"The Isle of Mechanical Men" is a 24-page funny animal science fiction comic book story starring Walter Lantz's cartoon characters Andy Panda and Charlie Chicken. It was penciled by Dan Gormley and published in June 1950 by Dell Publishing Co., Inc. under the A Dell Comic brand in issue #280 of the Four Color series.<ref name="gcd"/>
The cover was penciled and inked by Gormley. The story was published with two black and white gag pages on the inside front and inside back covers by Dick Hall, and an outside back cover gag page in full color by Hall. All three gag pages starred Andy and Charlie. "Isle" was followed by a 24-page companion tale, "Charlie Has Sleeping Sickness", penciled by Gormley and inked by Suzanne Seaborne.<ref name="gcd"/>
