The Impossible Murder

The Impossible Murder is a 2010 Bollywood feature film (in Hindi) released directly on DVD. The film is a locked room mystery that is produced by The Indie Farm. It has been certified U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification, India.
Plot
An old lady is killed in a locked room while five witnesses outside hear her scream for help. When the door is broken down, she is lying in a pool of blood with no sign of the killer or the murder weapon. The police, under pressure from the press and public, arrest the maid and she is sentenced for a crime she didn’t commit. This case is then forgotten by all concerned.
Three years later a mysterious amateur detective, Siddhartha, arrives at the village to piece together the clues once again to solve the impossible murder mystery.

Technical specs
The film was shot on HDV at a resolution of 1280x720 at 25fps with a JVC GY-HD111E pro HD camera and mastered as an uncompressed 32-bit TIFF sequence on a hard drive. Location Sound was recorded on Sennheiser boom and wireless microphones and mixed in stereo.
Style
The film is presented as a mockumentary (or docudrama) that incorporates Live action interspersed with Interviews, Motion Graphics, 3D animations and Still images; brought together via a video case file or journal by the narration and presence of its detective, Siddhartha.
Release
The film was initially slated for release in May 2009. The initial idea was to have the first film in which the audience directly interacts with the filmmakers using SMS to guess the murderer prior to the ending to win prizes. The film eventually released directly to DVD in January 2010; touted as the first Bollywood feature film to go that route.
The film is available on DVD via Createspace and is available on VOD at Amazon as of March 2010.
