The Future Doctor Medical Journal is a student-run medical publication founded and published by a staff of teenagers at Del Norte High School in San Diego, California. The inaugural issue of the publication was released to students at Del Norte High School, Design39Campus, and Oak Valley Middle School on June 3rd 2015. As the first high school medical publication in the Poway Unified School District and Southern California, The Future Doctor aims to rouse interest for medicine in the youth of San Diego County, effectively inspiring a new generation of future doctors to take the reins of tomorrow's medical field. Leadership Editor-in-Chief Armaun Rouhi is the founder of The Future Doctor Medical Journal and is supported by a staff of executive, content, copy, and design editors who manage distinct aspects of the publishing process. The staff of The Future Doctor is composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors who represent a wide variety of medical and scientific interests at Del Norte High School. Editor-in-Chief Armaun Rouhi is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Future Doctor. Much like those of the publication's staff, Armaun's interests include medicine, biomedical research, and international health policy. Rouhi began the publication after establishing an on-campus Future Doctors of America club in September 2013. Since then, the staff of The Future Doctor has been working to publish the organization's first issue, which was eventually released to students and local businesses in 4S Ranch and the Greater San Diego County in June 2015. Content Each issue of The Future Doctor consists of an average of fifteen one to two page articles that detail the raw science and altruism practiced by physicians within a certain medical discipline. Volume 1 Issue 1 The first issue of the publication showcased the medical fields of Neurology and Neurosurgery, featuring several articles on neuroplasticity, neurodegenerative diseases, and deep brain stimulation, as seen below. Volume 2 Issue 1 The second issue of the publication will detail the medical field of Cardiology and consist of six to eight articles on the electrocardiography of the heart, heart anatomy, the effects of stress on the cardiovascular system, and much more. The second issue of The Future Doctor is slated for release in December 2015.
