The Day Dallas Encounter was Irish made film produced in 1997. It was the debut and seminal work of promising writer and director duo Kieran Cuddihy and David Fitzgerald. The plot-centered on drugs, arson, and homicide in a edgy suburban neighbourhood, non-fictionally called Clarnwood. While the filmed was hailed as an instant classic by critics and film-goers alike, a vocal minority found the plot lacking structure, citing the ending as having little relevance to the beginning. Others complained about the wooden performances, notably from Gavin Bourke. It has been suggested by disgruntled co-stars in post-production interviews that Bourke was more interested in his hair than acting. Production was also supposedly hampered by onset tension after director Kieran Cuddihy allegedly struck a golf ball from star John Marnell's mouth in what was intended to be a simulation. Most of the cast have never spoken, and refuse to speak about, the events surrounding the production. Some even deny it exists.
