The Crescent Directive

The Crescent Directive: An essay on improving the image of Islam in America is a 2011 non-fiction book written by Khurram Dara and Hamid M. Khan. The book was published in December 2011 through Tensile Consulting and promoted by MuslimMatters.org.
Summary
The Crescent Directive is described as the story of "how PTA meetings, Thanksgiving dinner, and Little League" can improve the image of Islam in America. It argues that simple personal relationships are far more effective at countering anti-Muslim bigotry, than formal education or interfaith dialogue is alone. The first half explains why current approach to combat negative stereotypes is ineffective. The second half explains the benefits of continuing to eradicate radicalism within the Muslim faith, developing personal relationships with other Americans, and investing in American culture. It also includes a set of examples and recommendations on how American Muslims can induce this integration process.
