Teresita Alvarez-Bjelland

Teresita Alvarez-Bjelland (born September 6, 1954 in Camagüey, Cuba), received an A.B. from Harvard College (1976), an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics (1977), and an MBA from Harvard Business School (1979). After holding executive positions with Estee Lauder, Bates Advertising and Johnson Wax, she has served on the board of several non-profit institutions working in the fields of education, cultural exchange, and human rights. She currently works as an independent consultant and professional board member based in Oslo, Norway.
Alvarez-Bjelland was President of the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) in 2009-2010. She chose public service as the theme of her presidency. During her term in office, the HAA's Global Month of Service program was established. She is currently a member of the HAA Executive Board, The Norway-American Association Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of Freedom Now and The Kistefos Fellowship Advisory Board.
Alvarez-Bjelland is married to Christian Bjelland IV, a Norwegian industrialist and art collector. They have two children.
