Jo-Ann Armao

Jo-Ann Armao is an editorial writer for the Washington Post. Armao specializes in education and local affairs in the Washington D.C. area.
Background and Education
Armao worked on the student newspaper, during her time at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). She worked alongside Tom Toles, who would later become a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, also at the Washington Post. Armao graduated from UB with a B.A. in 1974.
Career
In 1982, Armao started at The Post as an assignment editor. She eventually was awarded a John S. Knight Fellowship at Stanford University, and was appointed onto The Post's Editorial Board in 2006. She has been described as a "crusading investigative reporter" and "executioner".
