Terence M. Vinson

Terence Michael Vinson (born 12 March 1951) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2013. He is a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy.
Vinson was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, to John Laurence Vinson and May Therese Armstrong. He converted to the LDS Church in the early 1970s as a result of interactions with Kay Ann Carden whom he married in 1974, in Sydney. They were sealed in 1975 in the Hamilton New Zealand Temple. They are the parents of six children.
Vinson earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Sydney; a teaching diploma from Sydney Teachers College; a financial planning diploma from Deakin University; and a master's degree in applied finance from Macquarie University. Professionally, he worked as a math teacher, university lecturer, financial adviser and owned a financial planning and investment firm.
In the LDS Church, Vinson has served twice as a bishop and has been a member of three stake presidencies. He has also been a counselor to two mission presidents and a regional representative. He was serving as an area seventy in the Pacific Area at the time he became a general authority.
Vinson was sustained as a general authority and member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy on April 6, 2013. Since August 2013, he has served as first counselor in the presidency of the church's Africa West Area.
