Tariq Lorgat

Tariq Lorgat (Arabic pronunciation: ) is a South African tennis player who holds the No. 5 position seed at the Western Province Cape Autumn tournament from April 2012. He had been ranked in the top 1000 since 2011 when he first registered on the SATA records. Lorgat had first made his appearance on the tour in 2011 where he had not made much of an impression. However in November 2011 Lorgat started showing his true colors as he started taking many of the titles in the Western Province sector. Lorgat started playing a very unique style of tennis and stunned many of the spectators. The start of 2012 Lorgat was playing in the quarter finals and was then deemed by the spectators that he has exceptional talent. At the beginning of the season of 2012 Lorgat had made caught the attention of the South Africa Tennis Association and had scouted for the Western Province men's u18 division. Lorgat has being deemed by many players to be the next Roger Federer on the circuit. Lorgat had completely wiped the floor at the Western province match that took place. After this match where he won 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, SATA had kept scouts watching out for him. Soon after Lorgat was scouted to travel to Port Elizabeth on tour. Lorgat is greatly respected by spectators and fellow players. Although Lorgat was highlighted on the South Africa side that was not the end. The Weil tennis academy in California had accepted him to train full time at their facilities. News of Lorgat had traveled fast around the tennis academies around the world.
Personal life
Childhood and early life
Lorgat was born in London, United Kingdom, to South African national Faizel Lorgat and Mischka Lorgat. He spent the first 4 years of his life in London and after four years moved to Cape Town, South Africa. Lorgat speaks English fluently and is his native language. Lorgat also credits the range of sports he played as a child - he also played cricket, table tennis and a touch of soccer - for his hand-eye co-ordination. Most tennis prodigies, by contrast, play tennis to the exclusion of all other sports. Lorgat is one amongst 3 siblings. His older brother Raeez Lorgat and younger brother Imaad Lorgat. Lorgat attended schooling at Rondebosch Preparatory School grade 4-7 and Rondebosch High School where he is currently in Cape Town, South Africa. Lorgat started playing tennis at the age of 13 and was aspired to become a professional tennis player. Lorgat has been coached by Eitan Adams ever since. Lorgat said several times that he was always interested in the sport as a whole but what inspired him most to take up tennis was the fact that both his parents were tennis fanatics. Lorgat started playing tennis rather late and was told that it was to late to go pro. Lorgat was asked "When you were told that you started tennis too late to reach professional status as a tennis player, what kept you going ?" Lorgat's answer was "Well my mother always told me that I have the capability to achieve my aspirations and that I must prove everyone wrong and show them !, however I have managed to get thus far in being accepted at a prestigious tennis academy where many of their students have gone professional it is now for me to stay focus and always strive to do better!".
