Edward Barrie Knowles

Edward Barrie Knowles is an English cricket player born in Durban, South Africa but resides in Surrey, England. He qualifies to play for England due to his British passport gained through his parents. He is currently playing cricket for Kew Cricket Club.
Early Years
Edward was born in Durban, South Africa but moved to Cape Town when he was aged 3. He is the youngest of 3 children and has two older brothers. He attended Gene Louw Primary School from years 1988 - 1994 where he excelled at cricket under the watchful eye of Graham Bam.
Teenage Years
From the age of 13 to 18 he attended Fairmont High School in the Cape Town suburb of Durbanville. This is where he really excelled and proved his skills as he lead the Fairmont first team to league victory in 1999 as captain.
After School
He attended Varsity College in 2001 and received his diploma in Sports management. In 2002 he decided to follow his passion for teaching and studied at the Mowbray Teaching College from 2002 - 2006 where he received his teaching degree.
While studying, he continued to play cricket for Durbanville Cricket Club where he caught the attention of Raj Patel, who would later sign him to play cricket in England. At Durbanville Cricket Club he broke the clubs record for most runs in a season during the 2004 season and then broke his own record in 2005 season.
Life in England
After his successful 2005 season he signed as an international player at Kew Cricket Club on a 5 year deal reported to be worth £10 000 a season. He again went on to dominate in England where he scored close to 300 runs during the 2009 season and successfully captained the club to two 3rd place finishes during the 2008 and 2009 season.
