Taekwondo Scotland® is the sole Scottish Governing Body for WTF taekwondo, as recognised by British Taekwondo and the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union. It is a not-for-profit members' organisation devoted solely to improving the standard of Scottish Taekwondo. Progress In the last two years, Taekwondo Scotland has made great progress. Its players are represented on the British Poomsae team and consistently achieve medal success in international competitions thanks to the programme under Master David Bailey (7th Dan, International Poomsae referee). A period of conspicuous under-performance led Taekwondo Scotland to review its sporting programme and to appoint a new Scottish National Performance Coach, Master Nikos Jakubiak. The sport performance programmes developed by Master Jakubiak have borne fruit and Scottish kyorugi players are now achieving great international success, most notably Asia Bailey who got bronze for Team GB at the 2012 World Junior Championships and has been selected for the British Team for the 2013 World Championships and is now on course for the 2016 Olympic team for Rio. However, the organisation does not focus solely on sporting excellence and all aspects of taekwondo are under constant review and development. History Officially called the British Taekwondo Control Board (Scotland), it was formed in April 1992 as the official Scottish branch of the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) . It is a member of the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union and is responsible for the development of WTF taekwondo in Scotland.
