Sylvia Love

Sylvia Love (born Chantal Pierre) is a British musician who released two disco singles in 1979 on the RCA Records
label : Instant Love and Extraterrestrial Lover.
Since then, both records have become classic club hits and are played world-wide by DJs & fans.
Career
Sylvia Love was discovered by producer Trevor Vallis when he was looking for a singer to
record a project that he was working on with writers Steve Coe & Mike Brayn who were both
signed to Panache Music (now via Maxwood Music), together with arranger & keyboardist
Craig Pruess.
On the basis of the 'Instant Love' demo, she was signed to RCA Records. Recording was at Mayfair Studios, South Molton Street in the West End of London. When Instant Love was released, Sylvia promoted the record with promotional appearances and television in UK & Europe. Instant Love made the UK dance chart and RCA Records then asked for the next record, which turned out to be Extraterrestrial Lover.
However, soon after Extraterrestrial Lover was released, the disco era appeared to suddenly come to a close.
In need of a change, Love left the music business and went travelling to India and various other
places and raised a family.
Since its beginnings, disco has remained very popular in many parts of the world. For example, DJs such as Glenn Rivera in San Diego, California & more recently Horse Meat Disco in the UK as well as sites such as Discoimperium in Holland have helped keep Sylvia
Love’s tracks on the dance floors.
With the resurgence of interest in disco & electronica, Love decided the time was right to
start recording again in 2008. The result was Cosmic Carousel followed by a remix by Chris Eccles, both available on
iTunes. The track was produced by herself, Chris Nicolaides, and writer Mike Brayn.
Both her original records have been re-released on CD compilations by Demon Music Group's Harmless Record label on the widely acclaimed Disco Discharge series.
Due to popular demand, Instant Dub, the B-side of Instant Love, is also included as a track in
its own right.
The compiler Mr Pinks obtained the original ¼ inch master tapes from Sony Music for remastering. As the magnetic oxide on some old audio tapes tends to fall away from the backing strip, they had to be baked in an oven under carefully controlled conditions to make them playable.
Sylvia Love will be recording new material during 2010/2011.
