Syed ziaur rahman

Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman is a scientist working in the field of Pharmacology. As a scholar, he has to his credit 5 published books and more than 65 research papers/articles/reports in both national and international journals. He edited 9 publications and contributed ten important chapters in medical science books. Dr. S. Ziaur Rahman has been very active academically. He has attended 27 International Conferences, 47 National Conferences and 46 Workshops/Training Programs. He organized himself one international conference and many symposiums. He is involved with and/or member of 24 learned educational bodies including International Brain Research Organization, International Society for Neurochemistry & South African Pharmacological Society. Many scholars and institutions have cited his works. Under his supervision and co-supervision, 7 candidates have either completed or are completing their thesis/dissertation works.
He was awarded with Servier Young Investigator Award of International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR) in 1999 and Junior Scientist Award of Safety Pharmacological Society (USA) in 2006, Honorary Membership of Addicted Treatment Welfare Society (Regd), Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Punjab (Pakistan) in 2004 and WHO Fellowships to attend the 2nd Asian Course on ED & RDU in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Second International Conference on Improving Use of Medicines (ICIUM 2004) in Chiang Mai (Thailand). He visited USA (thrice), Greece, Holland, UAE, Malaysia, Iran, Kenya, Hong Kong, Thailand, France, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Nepal, Australia and Austria for academic purpose.
He is the founder trustee and treasurer of Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine & Sciences, Aligarh and an Associate Editor of its quarterly newsletter (NISA). He coordinated in the establishment of the Library, Museum on History of Medicine & Sciences, Centre for Safety & Rational Use of Indian Systems of Medicine (CSRUISM) & AIDS Cell as corpus body of the Academy. The Academy is listed in the Directory of History of Medicine Collections, US Department of Health and Human Services, , , USA (). In addition, he is closely associated with ‘Society of , India (SOPI)’. He started as editor, the official journal of SoPI viz Journal of Pharmacovigilance & Drug Safety and edited its first 2 numbers. At present, he is representing SoPI as Joint Secretary. He coined the term “” for the study of drugs at therapeutic doses and its impact on environment.
Family Background
Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman (born on September 10, 1972) belongs to a much-respected family of Indian Unani Physicians. During the Changezi Massacre, his forefathers migrated from Mashhad (Iran) via Gurdeez (Afghanistan) to India during the reign of Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish (1211-1235). In India, this family was acclaimed later on by the appellation of 'Gurdeezi Saadat' and it received many honorific titles from Emperors. Many of its members are still remembered for their participation in the Independence Struggle of 1857. Great-grandfather Hakim Syed Karam Hussain was a famous physician of Tijara, Alwar (Rajasthan), famous as Ra'is-i Tijara. He had to his credit, more than two dozen books. Grandfather, Hakim Syed Fazlur Rahman was also a writer and the leading Unani practitioner. Father, has also made extensive and highly significant contributions in the field of Medicine. He authored 31 books and wrote more than 150 papers. Many scholars and institutions have cited his works. He became short term Consultant to (WHO) Regional Office for South East Asia Region, on the assignment of which he visited Bangladesh in 1996. Hamdard University, Karachi, Pakistan invited him as Visiting Professor in 1997. In recognition of his scholarship, he was awarded in 2006 and was chosen for the 1995 President's of India Award for Persian literature given to him for his in-depth study of Primary Source-material in lndo-Persian.
