Syed Abdul Hussain Waiz

Syed Abdul Hussain Waiz (born 15 March 1945, Feroz Bahar, Bamyan Province, Afghanistan; died 2012) was a an Afghan politician and spiritual leader among the people of Bamyan who was notable for his opposition to the Taliban.
Biography
Waiz was the son of Syed Mohamed Qasim and grandson of Syed Shah Mirza Hussain Khan. He was educated in the province of Bamyan by his elders, and began his Islamic political career there.
Career
After completing his education, Waiz started his own political party, "Adalat e Ijtimai" (Social Justice of Afghanistan), and started working for the justice system inside the country as well as promoting true Islamic values.
Waiz was later on appointed as the spokesman of the People of the Bamyan, and was considered as the secretary of Mohammed Daoud Khan.
Although not formally trained as a philosopher or poet, Waiz authored several biographies of prominent Afghan and Islamic historic personalities, all written in verse.

Personal
Waiz has eight children: 4 daughters & 4 sons. His second son, Syed Abdul Jalil Waiz, was a national champion and internationally ranked badminton player.
