Sy Kravitz

Seymour "Sy" Kravitz (December 10, 1924 - October 29, 2005) was an American filmmaker and NBC TV news producer.
Kravitz was of Ukrainian Jewish descent. He was married to actress Roxie Roker from 1962 to 1985. Kravitz and Roker had a son- rock musician Lenny Kravitz. Lenny, born on May 26, 1964, was named after Sy's brother, PFC Leonard M. Kravitz, who was killed in action in the Korean War while defending against a Chinese attack and saving most of his platoon, and was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and, in 2014, the Medal of Honor.
Sy was a Hollywood producer and his environment of celebrities and up-and-coming stars was influential on his son's musical career. He died of leukemia in New York City a month and a half before his 81st birthday, the night before Lenny Kravitz played his first concert in the all-US tour with Aerosmith. The Let Love Rule singer paid tribute to his father in front of fans at a Mohegan Sun Casino Arena show in Connecticut on October 31, 2005.
