Sway cricket club

New article name is Sway Cricket Club
Sway Cricket Club is amateur cricket club based in the New Forest village of Sway, Hampshire. The club's first team plays in Regional Division 1 South of the Hampshire Cricket League.
History
Along with other villages in the New Forest, cricket has probably been played in Sway since the last few decades of the 19th century. After the second world war cricket both competitive and non-competitive cricket was played, first at a ground located near the club's current Jubilee Fields ground, and then later at Pitmore lane located at the edge of the village. Unfortunately, the current club has not to date been able to locate any records from this period. In 2004 the club moved to Jubilee Fields, a new purpose built sports ground in the heart of the village. The moved proved to be the catalyst for the subsequent expansion of the club.
Sporting Record
On reformation, the club joined the New Forest Cricket league and the club mostly remained in the bottom division. A second team was added in 2004. In 2005 the New Forest League merged with the Hampshire Cricket League with the 1st team playing in Regional Division 3, and the 2nd team in Regional Division 4. By 2006 the club was starting to see the benefit of the colts setup that had been established with several promising young players moving up to the first team. In 2007 the 1st team won promotion to Regional Division 2 and depsite narrowly missing out on a further promotion in 2008, the club won promotion to Regional Division 1 in 2009. In 2008 the club added a 3rd team and in 2010 the club added a 4th team.
