Early life
Swami Ramaraaja was born in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Marjorie, a stay at home mother and Howard Stone, Sr., an engineer, civil servant and inspector who was employed on behalf of the U.S. government for Boeing Military Airplane Company during the 1960s after he served time in the U.S. Air Force. She has three sisters and one brother. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas.<ref name="old_3" />
Since an early age, Ramaraaja was drawn to spiritual matters, especially after the death of her father when she was eight. Her mother had her memorizing Bible scriptures and praying as young as six. Ramaraaja was prone to mystical experiences as a child. She had unexplainable phenomena, known as “Peak Experience” or “Cosmic Consciousness” events, happen on numerous occasions, resulting in many questions that went unanswered for decades as to what those experiences meant. Ramaraaja demanded that her mother send her to private Christian schools after seventh grade.<ref name="old_3" /> She succeeded in attending private schools (except for tenth grade) from the age of twelve on until graduating from Berean Academy in Elbing, Kansas in 1980.<ref name="old_3" /><ref name="old_7" /> She thrived on religious studies and excelled in her knowledge of Biblical scriptures.
1980s-2009
After graduating from Berean Academy high school in 1980, Ramaraaja studied design at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. In 1981, she transferred to the industrial design program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.<ref name="old_3" /><ref name="old_7" /> Ramaraaja ended up quitting the design program during her junior year to pursue spiritual matters, which lay heavy on her mind.<ref name="old_3" />
Ramaraaja has been very committed to spiritual matters since the age of eight when she had a vision that she was here on earth to serve God as the major priority of her life. Her spiritual studies continued throughout her twenties to the extent of her joining the ministry in 1985. She became more deeply involved in the ministry and her spiritual education at the church until 1989 when she left the ministry due to conflicts with fundamental ministry expectations.<ref name="old_3" />
After leaving the ministry, Ramaraaja went to work in 1990 in Los Angeles. In 1995, she became very disillusioned with the worldly business of making money and working to succeed in fields that were not of a spiritual leaning after experiencing what Psychologist Abraham Maslow referred to as a 'Peak Experience' or cosmic consciousness. She ended up studying from a yogi master, Elinore Hill, in Corona, California from 1996, January, until Hill’s death.<ref name="old_3" /> Elinore Hill was a member of The Theosophical Society and had studied with Rev. Emily Davis of San Diego, California<ref name="old_10" />. Pastor Davis was a spiritual descendant from Theosophical Society members that date back to its inception.<ref name="old_3" /><ref name="old_6" /> Under Hill’s tutelage, Ramaraaja studied Yogi Philosophies of every branch, Taoism as well as the writings of Ramacharaka, Joseph Campbell, Deepak Chopra and others.
In 1996, a year after her first adult 'P.E.' Ramaraaja left Los Angeles and moved to the Kansas City area in order to continue her studies in Taoism, Yogi Philosophy (especially Raja Yoga), The Bagavad Gita, Mystic Christianity, Vibrational Healing Therapy, Shamanic healing practices, neuro-linguistic programming (N.L.P.) and Reiki. She had experienced “P.E.s” since childhood, but experienced them more profoundly at age 33. In May, 1997, Hill gave Ramaraaja the edict to teach. She then began writing the 'Steps to Personal Power and Transformation' self-help training methods that were published in the 'Alchemist' newsletter during 1997. These later became her self-help 'Going Clear' methods<ref name="old_2" /><ref name="old_9" />. She took on the Yogi name of RamaRajKumari at that time, but has since become Swami Ramaraaja. Ramaraaja, at the request of her readers, began teaching her methods in 1998 through Communiversity, a community teaching venue, at UMKC (University of Missouri at Kansas City). She soon added the course, 'Meditate Like the Masters', in 1998 and then began conducting weekend workshops teaching her methods in 1999.<ref name="old_3" /> <ref name="old_9" />
Her integrative healing methods and workshops were featured in an article in Kansas City Wellness Magazine by Richard Mende, a Chini Leabu Master, expert in meditative practices and monk going on fifty years who has lived in India has stated that “Sharon R. Stone DD (Swami Ramaraaja) is a local healer who has become known for her practice of this mode (Integrative-mind, body, spirit) of healing.<ref name="old_2" /> Those who have experienced her workshops where she teaches her ‘self-healing’ methods to others acknowledge that she is a trip; a maverick in the best sense of the word." <ref name="old_2" />and "Her years of research have resulted in breakthrough insights that ordinary folks have not experienced."<ref name="old_2" /> and "Stone (Swami Ramaraaja) undoubtedly has developed supernatural gifts using her methods, including the ability to read minds." <ref name="old_2" />and "Due the level of intensity and spiritual savvy Stone (Swami Ramaraaja) brings to these sessions, her students are often swept away.<ref name="old_2" /> Many are affected on a very deep level and are noticeably changed by the class thus the term’ getting stoned’." <ref name="old_2" />Also "At the core of her teachings was an emphasis on “clearing” and “tracking” of thoughts based on a collection of different methodologies.<ref name="old_2" /> Stone (Swami Ramaraaja) puts her own spin on these methodologies and adds techniques of her own derived from her research and experience." <ref name="old_2" /> and "Students who participated in her workshop followed procedures outlined in their workbooks, which helped lay bare their deep-seated hang-ups.<ref name="old_2" /> As students explored their issues, Stone (Swami Ramaraaja) would show them which techniques worked best to clear that particular issue.<ref name="old_2" /> As a result, the students were clearing life issues within moments.<ref name="old_2" /> On the third day Stone (Swami Ramaraaja met with the students individually, during which time she targeted their priority issues, and performed energy healing techniques on them."<ref name="old_2" /> Lastly "At a time when alternative healing has become more mainstream, Stone's (Swami Ramaraaja)integrative methods are and will continue to become an important resource for those who are seeking real help for real problems."<ref name="old_2" />”<ref name="old_3" /> In addition, many individuals have testified about transformational experiences that they have had with her initiation into meditation and teachings.<ref name="old_3" /><ref name="old_1" /><ref name="old_8" /><ref name="warner_initiation" />
Publications
Swami Ramaraaja began writing 'spiritual self-help' in 1997 after her yogi teacher had encouraged her to go forth and teach others what she had learned. In 1997 she wrote the 'Simple Steps to Personal Power and Transformation' and published them in a newsletter for the Kansas City area readers of metaphysics. By 1999 her Vedanta Self-Help 'mind/body stress clearing methods' called 'Simple Steps to Personal Power and Transformation' were combined with her 'Meditate Like the Masters' training series and were put into a workbook that have since become 'Going Clear, Doorway to the Divine' by 2009.<ref name="old_7" /><ref name="warner_initiation" />
