Suttonians Disco

Suttonians (Sutts) is an under 18's Irish nightclub found in Dublin, Ireland. It is located across the road from the Sutton Dart station & is also used as the grounds for Suttonians RFC, an Irish rugby union club. The disco is one of Dublin's most well known clubs, being very popular among Irish youths, especially the Scanger stereotype of Ireland. The club opens its doors at 8:00pm until 11:15pm every second Friday of the month, making it active for only two weeks every month except during the summer & Christmas holidays, when it usually extends to three weeks for a period of time, & has an entrance fee of 10 euro. The main music genres played are Dance & Hip-Hop.

Overview
Dancefloor
The main attraction of the club, of course. Located in the center of the building, the dancefloor is the biggest room in Suttonians, housing everything from the DJs to the wall hatches. The dancefloor holds four doors, one leading to the club entrance & toilets, another to the lounge & the last two out to the pitches. The DJs are found at the top of the dancefloor on a small stage. Requests for certain songs can be made to the DJs with a writing pad found at the mixers.

Pitches & Lounge
Although very small, the club gets over one hundred people when opened, making the back doors essential, as they lead out to the rugby pitches where most people like to take a break from inside & need fresh air. During winter times, however, the back doors are shut because of the weather. Besides the pitches, another place for people to take a break is the lounge, located at the back of the disco in another room, which has chairs, tables, sofas, etc. where most people like to chat & take a break from dancing.

Wall Hatches
There are two wall hatches found in the club, both in the dancefloor. One is used for selling refreshments, mostly Club Orange, Coke, & 7 Up, each priced at one euro per can, & the other used for hanging up coats, also priced at one euro for its service. A ticket is given out when a coat is left within the hatch, which is used later in the night to receive the coat back.

Club Rules
There are many rules within the club, and they are enforced. Before entry to the club, one of many guards search all male guests for chewing gum, weapons, glowsticks, smokes, etc. as most things damage the floor (gum & sticks) and others used for fighting (weapons). One of the most strict rules is that the club is a non alcoholic event, which both males & females are checked before they enter. Some people may be turned down if they are too drunk. If anyone is caught breaking the rules, by either smoking, fighting, etc. they are thrown out & told to go home. If they refuse and try to enter again the Garda are called to take care of the matter.

Criticism
Many people have criticised Suttonians for not taking their own rules seriously, as over 90% of the teenagers who attend get in while they are drunk, some even putting smokes down their shoes when getting searched & having them when inside. Another thing which has been the talk of the club for a long time is the entry of children (10 - 13), which most of the teenagers who go there find disgraceful & have even stopped going as it is "becoming a creche". However, due to popular demand as of January 5th 2007 Suttonians is becoming 14 - 18's, which will hopefully bring back more older guests.
