Surinder Mahey

Surinder Mahey (born 1958) is an Indian politician and former Mayor of Jalandhar.
Personal Life
He was born into Ravidassia (Chamar) family to Roop Lal at Jalandhar, Punjab. He is also a businessman and married to Geeta Mahey.
Career
In 2002, Mahey elected to Jalandhar Municipal Corporation from Congress. He had lobbied for a Assembly ticket from Jalandhar South, but was denied the ticket.
In 2017, he also fought Punjab Legislative Assembly elections from Jalandhar West as an independent candidate but lost to Sushil Kr Rinku. Same year he was expelled by Congress alleging for anti-party activities.
In 2019, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party along with Dr.Swaran Singh.
