The eldest daughter of Hukum Singh, a seven term member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and a member of 16th Lok Sabha from the . Political career Unlike her father who was a politician, Mriganka had not been part of active politics until early 2017 when she contested as the Bhartiya Janta Party candidate for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the Kairana assembly constituency. After the death of Hukum Singh, which necessitated the by-elections, Mriganka contested the 2018 Kairana Loksabha bypoll and lost to Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Begum Tabassum Hasan, who was supported by a "grand coalition" of Indian National Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. |
