Abdul Sattar (Maharashtra politician)

Abdul Sattar is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress Indian National Congress Party from Maharashtra. He was sworn in as the Cabinet Minister, Animal Husbandry, Maharashtra State
Political career
He contested the Grampanchayat elections in 1984 and achieved success. After that he entered Tehsil(Taluka) politics in 1994-95 after which he became the Mayor (Nagardhyaksha) of Sillod district on 5 March 1994. He was elected as the MLA of Sillod by the Vidhanparishad of Aurangabad in the year of 2001. After his tenure as a MLA,Abdul Sattar contested for the elections of legislative Assembly in 2004 in which he lost with shortage of 301 votes. Later he was elected as the MLA from Sillod Soegaon constituency and was sworn in as the Cabinet Minister (Animal Husbandry) of Maharashtra recently.
Abdul Sattar was first elected as the Mayor of Sillod in the year of 1994 after which he approached Congress in 1999 to get a ticket for the Legislative Assembly Elections, but unfortunately he couldn't bag the ticket despite having a huge public support.
Looking at the support from his supporters he campaigned for the same election independently and managed to get the 2nd position with good number of votes while the other congress official candidate struggled to achieve the 4th position.
Abdul Sattar was elected as the Vidhanparishad MLA of Sillod in 2001.
In 2009 abdul Sattar was allotted a ticket from Sillod constituency for legislative assembly elections. During this time, a political leader named Prabhakarrao Palodkar who was away from the party since 1996 to 2008, rejoined and helped Abdul Sattar which resulted in Abdul Sattar’s victory as the MLA of Sillod by 30,000 votes.
On 30 July 2018, Sattar resigned from the Assembly in support of the Maratha quota demand, which would guarantee government jobs and education to be reserved for Marathas.
Abdul Sattar is married to Nafeesa Begum.
