The first Surf Association of Madeira 'Associação de Surf da Madeira' was inaugurated on 6 April 2013 on Madeira Island. The inauguration was attended by Manuel António Correia, The Secretário Regional do Ambiente e Recursos Naturais amongst others. The Association is led by Orlando Pereira, Madeira's surf champion and Sara André Presidente of the General Assembly of the Association. The objectives of the Association include surfing courses for all from beginners to the experienced and the organization of surf events. The Association only partners with businesses in the region that have full licences and insurance for these activities.
