Tuna Macaense

Tuna Macaense is a musical group formed in Macau in 1935, which still exists today with some changes in its line-up. The group has eight members, seven Macanese naturals and a Portuguese citizen. The repertoire of the group consists of a Portuguese and Chinese mixture, blending Cantonese and Chinese ballads, carnival songs, Portuguese fados, Anglo-saxon pop music and the like. Most of the songs are sung in Patuá, the local Portuguese Creole language, and the main composer for the group was the late poet, composer and theatre director José dos Santos Ferreira, nicknamed "Adé".
