Sudarshan Prasad Verma

Sudarshan Prasad Verma, M.Sc, PhD (14 February 1947 - 18 October 2002) was an educationist, mathematician, director of chains of C.B.S.E affiliated schools in various states of India under different names, a businessman and a social worker. In his career, he won over 4 achievement awards including SSI and small scale entrepreneur award in 2001 and nomination for Teachers Achievement Award in 2001 for his outstanding work in the field of education.
Verma was born to Chandra Mohan Verma, an income tax lawyer in British Government. He was ambitious to be a successful businessman while growing up. However, after the sudden death of his father, he entered the education industry. His first accomplishment as an educator was to be selected by the British Council under AIMEC project and sent to CAMET, University of Loughborough, England for the advanced study of teaching mathematics for a period of ten months in 1982-83. During this period, he visited several educational institutions of all levels in U.K and did projects on different topics on the preliminaries of calculus, trigonometry, geometry, algebra and applied mathematics. A few years later, he presented his thesis paper in physics to the same university and was awarded his PhD.

In his later life, Verma was superintendent for many Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)board exams and was guest professor in Indias' top engineering universities and renowned institutes. He tutored and mentored many students to be successful entrepreneurs in life and their respective fields.
Although he is said to be a notable mathematician but he was never successful as a businessman. He started many businesses in his lifetime but could only barely run them despite of his book on Business Mathematics published by FK Publication. It is also said that the ventures started by him for the benefit of society are the only successful ones.
