Storeton Community Radio

Storeton Community Radio was a pirate station in the Merseyside area. The station ran from 1982 on 1026 Khz Mediumwave
The policy was to provide a public service and running costs of the station were shared by the presenters,
At its peak, the station, known locally as SCR, got a good response from the public.
In 1984, the station was raided by the authorities..
Storeton Community Radio returned to the airwaves the following year, but the station manager, Keith the Chief, and many of the presenters left and went to a rival station, Radio Merseywaves (owned by Bert Williams, previously of Radio Elenor). Keith's decision to leave SCR was criticised by one of SCR's fans, Michi Macilroy.
SCR operated a mailing address from the Woodchurch Estate in Birkenhead.
