Steve Lightfoot

Steve Lightfoot (born March 1st, 1954) is a New York activist best known for his theories concerning Stephen King and the murder of John Lennon.
According to Lightfoot's website, in his youth he was a notable amateur golfer, and missed a place in the US Amateur by one shot. It was around this time that Lennon was murdered, and Lightfoot became convinced that the killing had been carried out by the government rather than Mark Chapman. He claimed to have discovered codes in magazines such as Time and Newsweek released on the day of the murder, allegedly left by Richard Nixon, heralding the era of Ronald Reagan and the end of John Lennon. He also claims that coded messages to Reagan were left by Nixon in the book The Real War, along with descriptions of Stephen King as one great big Zippo lighter.
He was arrested in 1994 for attempting to disrupt King's cross-country motorcycle tour. King described him as "a stone in my shoe".
He lived in Santa Rosa, California for a time and made an appearance at a city council meeting.
Stephen King has mentioned Lightfoot in several interviews, although he does not seem to take Lightfoot's claims seriously, saying, "there's a guy out in California, Steven Lightfoot, who believes that me and Ronald Reagan conspired to kill John Lennon..."
In February 2009 Lightfoot was escorted from a meeting of the Sarasota City Commission after attempting to address the meeting about the actions of Stephen King.
