Mary Lou Sorrells

Mary Lou Sorrells (born 1952) was an African American topless dancer from Los Angeles, California. She was acquitted of murder charges in Los Angeles Superior Court in December 1973. Called the dirty old man killing by members of the Los Angeles Police Department, Sorrells shot Rufus Ebow, 59, of 928 1/2 West 76th Street in June 1972.
Crime
Ebow claimed to be sick when he met Sorrells outside a liquor store a half a block from his home. Once inside his home, Ebow undressed and attacked Sorrells. She took a gun from her purse and shot Ebow once.
Police found her wig, purse, and identification, which she left behind. Sorrells was arrested several days
after the shooting at her apartment.
Dancer
Sorrells is a graduate of San Fernando High School. Dancing under the name Peaches Marie, she resided at 1105 3/4 West 94th Street. She appeared in night clubs in South Los Angeles.
