Stefan I. Mychajliw is an American Republican comptroller and former news anchor for channel WGRZ on which he served from 2001 to 2007. He is a descendant of Polish-Ukrainian immigrants and lived in New York for the rest of his life where he also attended Syracuse University. As of November 7, 2012 he serves as comptroller for Erie County, New York. In 2012 he hired Frank Belliotti who is a former Certified Public Accountant. On November 6, 2013 he ran against Kevin Gaughan as one of the comptroller candidates which he won. On July 11, 2013 he was accused by Mark Poloncarz of using taxpayers' audit for his political gain. As a result of a blame game, in May 2014, he accused Poloncarz of misleading taxpayers into paying for Buffalo Bills lease. In April 2014 he began an investigation into Weights and Measures Act violations against Department of Commerce.
