Stefan Borgas (born September 11, 1964) is President and Chief Executive Officer of the ICL Group (Israel Chemicals Ltd.) based in Israel. Previously Borgas was the CEO of Lonza Group, Switzerland. Prior to his work at Lonza, Borgas spent 14 years with the BASF Group where he held several different positions of leadership in Fine Chemicals and Engineering Plastics in Germany, Ireland, China and the United States. he received an MBA (lic.oec HSG) from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Career From January 1990 until January 1995 Borgas held a number of sales and marketing positions at BASF in Germany, Ireland, China and the United States. In 1995 he became the Group Manager of Logistics BASF Corp Plastic Materials in New Jersey, USA. In 1998 Borgas returned to Germany and took on the role of Director of Global Marketing, responsible for the vitamins business, a position that he held until January 2001. He was nominated Group VP Fine Chemicals Europa at BASF in January 2001 and subsequently Group VP Fine Chemicals North America. From June 2004 until January 2012 Borgas was the CEO of the Swiss-based Fine Chemicals and Biopharma producer Lonza Group in Basel, Switzerland. Since April 21, 2009 he has been a non-executive director of Syngenta AG, one of the global leaders in crop protection and seeds. Since taking over leadership of ICL Borgas has been at the forefront of defining and refining ICL’s vision as a company that uses its expertise and continuously evolves to meet humanity’s essential needs in its three primary markets - agriculture, food and engineered materials, whose growth is being driven by global mega-trends including population growth, urbanization, and increased standards of living in developing markets. Mr. Borgas has also led the development and implementation of ICL’s “Next Step Forward Strategy”, an organization-wide effort launched in 2013 to develop the company’s core businesses and improve its position in the markets it serves by growing the company organically and through M&As, strengthening its efficiency and implementing enabling platforms to further globalize its business and empower its workforce as “ONE ICL.” Mr. Borgas is also dedicated to broadening ICL's global footprint, including diversifying and securing its sources of minerals globally and the - listing of ICL’s shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: ICL). He also continues to strengthen ICL’s contribution to the communities in which it is active around the world.
