Status Social is a specialist social media marketing company based in the East Midlands, United Kingdom. It trains businesses to use social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest and manages social media accounts. In 2013 it won the Local Business Accelerator competition staged by the Derby Telegraph and Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce. History and Growth Former BBC journalist Mark Saxby and blogger Martin Broadhurst formed Status Social Media Marketing in Derby in January 2011 after building up a relationship over Twitter. In 2011 the business won a three-year contract to manage the social media for the Visit Cleethorpes brand and the Derby Enterprise Growth Fund run by Derby City Council. Fantasy Formula One League During March 2011, Status Social Marketing launched its first Fantasy Formula One League. This first fantasy league by the company was eventually won by a teacher in Spain BTEC Course In November 2011, Status Social Media Marketing, was chosen to mentor students on the first BTEC award course in social media for business. This part-time course in using social media helped individuals to make themselves more employable. Name Change In December 2012, Status Social Media Marketing became Status Social Limited. Locations On the 9th of September 2013, it was announced that the organisation would be moving into the former Tregoning Art Gallery, at Friar Gate Studios, in Derby.
