Attack on Jones

One of the stab wounds severed his spinal cord; doctors expect that he will be permanently paralyzed as a result. to help Jones meet this obligation, and will likely also help with any non-covered physical therapy expenses, as well as conversion costs to make his home wheelchair-accessible. According to a donation page set up to help Jones, "The financial requirements of his rehabilitation far beyond the capability of his family, so with your support we can help them to focus on supporting Scott." Donations can be made through the worldwide e-commerce site PayPal or at branches of the Bank of Nova Scotia. Const. Ken MacDonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police Service cautioned, however, that the attack may in fact be unrelated to Jones's sexual orientation: "We are still very much investigating this case, and it’s premature to speculate."<ref name="arrest"/> Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project chair Lisa Buchanan responded: "We are mindful that there have been allegations of homophobia attached to this crime and will be paying close attention to the outcome of the police investigation, as will our whole community. We want to be sure that police and prosecutors are looking at the possibility that it is a hate crime."<ref name="canpress"/>
