Sreeraman chira

Sreeraman Chira is a paddy field which situated at the western area of Thrissur District, Kerala state, 2 kilometers apart from Thriprayar Srirama Temple. From this place to Guruvayoor Sreekrishna Temple, it takes 24 kilometers. And the same distance is towards Trichur Vadakkunnatha Temple and Irinjalakuda Koodalmankikyam Temple. This is the biggest Vattanilam in coastal belt of Thrissur
This was under owner ship of Thriprayar Sree rama swamy temple. To collect the rain water in September - October months Thannyam panchayath construct a bund (Former days this was done by Thriprayar sree ramaswami Temple). This is the only one place in the world, where Sethubandhan observes in every year in memory of SETHUBANDHAN done by Sreeram, in Ramayan. During SETHUBANDHAN in former days manslaughter observed to save the newly constructed bund.
This is the only one natural water reservoir in Thannyam panchayath. In 1988 Lift irrigation implemented to save the people of chemmappily area from salty water, which they get in the time of November to June.
