Squirreling

Squirreling is the storing, hoarding or saving something against the day it will be scarce or otherwise be difficult to find in the future. Some squirrels store nuts and other foods away before winter sets in, which inspired the word.

Slang Verb usage
The act of holding nuts in ones mouth, or burying ones nuts in an approved location.

Debate usage
In competitive debate jargon, "squirreling" involves taking the resolution and changing it to benefit one side and so making it impossible for the other side to argue their points.

Scientology usage

In Scientology, squirreling is the expression used for the alteration or misapplication of the texts of Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard. It is considered a "high crime" by L. Ron Hubbard and can lead to the expulsion from the Church of Scientology.

A "squirrel group" is an organized group of people who are alleged by officials in the Church of Scientology to alter Scientology according to L. Ron Hubbard.
