Space Empire II was converted from Space Empire Elite for the Amiga. This game was designed to work for the BBS on the Amiga. The author, Kevin Bales (aka Mystical One), converted it to work for Skyline BBS for the Amiga from the original Space Empire Elite. The following year support for C-Net Amiga BBS was added. Many new features were added to make it a more unique game from Space Empire. One of the better additions was a configuration file for Sysops, so they can configure the game to be harder or easier, or longer or shorter. The original BBS that it was created for was called 'The Land Beyond' in the late 80's and early 90's which ran Skyline BBS and then C-Net BBS on the Amiga.
It lasted for a couple of years until the last update for Space Empire II was January 1991 version 3.13. You can locate this game on Aminet, which is the best source for all things Amiga. Also, you can locate this game on xemac.org, which has tons of Amiga files. The File name is spaceempirev.lzh.
