Southwest Broadcasting Network

Southwest Broadcasting Network (SBN) Is a middle school television production crew and studio out of Southwest Middle School which is in Lakeland Florida out of Polk County. Its job is to make a daily morning news show and other videos for the school to watch and to be sent to the annual Polk County Video Awards every April.

Polk County is one of the number one TV production counties in the entire country. SBN is one of the top out of the middle school division every year since 2004.

SBN is run by Kristen Mela, former English teacher. Its current executive producers are Amanda Burgner (technical), Paige Ventura and Shane Carey. Last years crew had Austin Armour and Ryan O'Toole as its Executive producers. Armour and O'Toole are considered as one of the best actors/producers and leaders in Southwest's history. Some other notable current members include Charlee Gelb (anchor), Elizibeth Crum (anchor), Alex Taylor (Anchor), Tessa Bright (anchor/tech), Nick Godwin (anchor), Justin Wolf (tech), Cheyane Tyler (anchor/tech), Pauline Jarvis (anchor/2008 student of the year) and Andrea Strang (anchor/tech). Notable former members are Austin Armour (Executive Producer), Ryan O'Toole (anchor/tech/controversial student of the year runner up 2007), Chris Creapeau (status unknown), Steven Garberg (anchor/tech), Alexis Gelb (tech), Jared Hudson (Tech), Madison Watson (tech/2006 student of the year), Kendall Bass (anchor), Bliss Walker (anchor/ 2007 Female Solo Anchor Finalist), and Keith Young (anchor/2007 Polk County Best Male Solo Anchor).
