South Carolina Alcohol Education Program

The Alcohol Education Program, also known as the Alcohol Education Program Act, is a part of Pre-Trial Intervention for solely alcohol-related charges. Act 35, H3490 was enacted June 6, 2007 and adds Article 5 Title 17 Chapter 22, which creates the Alcohol Education Program Act. Pre-Trial Intervention is a program in South Carolina for first time offenders charged with small-scale infractions. PTI is a one-time program and participants must follow all rules if he or she wishes to reap the benefits. It includes activities such as volunteer work and a tour of a local prison. AEP, as a component of PTI, can be used without using PTI itself, and vice versa. This program can only be used once to counteract one charge.
