Peter DeLucia (born January 19, 1970), is an American public servant and television personality, known best for his appearances on the The Dr. Oz Show, a daily television program focusing on medical issues and personal health. He resides in Vista, New York, where he is a local elected official, and currently serves as Assistant Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Health. Early life and education DeLucia was born in Yonkers, New York. He attended SUNY Albany, and went on to receive a Masters of Public Administration from Pace University, where he was a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society in Public Affairs and Administration. He resides in the Vista hamlet in the town of Lewisboro, with his wife and children. Professional career In 1993, DeLucia went to work for Westchester County Department of Health as a health inspector. He currently serves as Assistant Commissioner of Health for the Bureau of Public Health Protection. In this role, he oversees the Food Protection, Foodborne Illness, Bathing Facilities, Rabies, Lead-based Paint, Healthy Neighborhoods, Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention, Tobacco Free Worksite, Temporary Residence, West Nile Virus, and Administrative Hearing Programs. He is also the Radiological Dose Assessment Director for the response team assigned to Indian Point Nuclear Energy Center. He previously worked as a Team Leader and Quality Control Supervisor for the County West Nile Larviciding and Surveillance program, coordinating hazard mitigation and addressing environmental concerns with local homeowners concerned about larviciding close to local lakes. He also worked as a Supervisor of the Department's Administrative Hearing Office, and as a Food Service Inspection Officer, where he trained the County's food service inspectors and children’s camp inspectors. DeLucia has made numerous media appearances, including on CBS 2. He has also acted as a spokesperson for the health department. Since the fall of 2010, he has been a guest on The Dr. Oz Show show to discuss current issues pertaining to public health. Political career He was elected to the Lewisboro Town Board in 2005, and re-elected in 2009. DeLucia is a Republican. He was appointed Deputy Supervisor in 2009 and reappointed in 2011. Prior to his election, he had served on the Town’s Conservation Advisory Council, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
